Asymetric Media and Patagonia hosted an invitation-only event this past Wednesday, September 21 to bring together political, environmental and media stakeholders from the GTA to learn about the potential blow to water quality and availability from the proposed Mega Quarry north of Toronto. During this event, Asymetric’s Jason van Bruggen also premiered the short film SAVE OUR WATER, that is posted below. The event was a huge success and was well attended by such personalities as Maude Barlow (international bestselling author of Blue Covenant), Andy Barrie (Retired CBC Metro Morning Host), and Former Toronto Mayor, David Miller, who was eager to show his support for the fight against the Mega Quarry.

This video is an anthem piece for the AllState All-Canadians Mentorship program. The top 42 Bantam players across Canada were carefully selected to participate in the intensive program; throughout week long camp the young players were mentored and coached by over 20 NHL players—Luke Schenn, Jason Spezza, Jeff Skinner, to name a few. The young players attended Nutrition, Finance, and Mental Skills seminars and were mentored by coaches such as Gary Roberts for the duration of the camp. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of these young players culmination in a nationally televised game broadcast on TSN. Asymetric was on hand to capture all the excitement.

It’s safe to say that the Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship Program has already left a long lasting impression on the young players, their families, the organizers, and the Hockey Pros. We are very happy for the opportunity to tell the stories of these young players and the AllState All-Canadians Mentorship program.

As part of our ongoing commitment to stopping the Quarry, we’re working with Michael Stadtlander and the Canadian Chef’s Congress to support Foodstock 2011. On October 16th, 2011 we will gather 20,000 people on the remaining Melancthon farmland that did not sell out to the Highland Companies. Hosted by over 70 of Canada’s top chefs from around the country, this event will celebrate Ontario’s bounty of food and water and the connection between producers and consumers of local food.
